A true orange wine of time and patience, partly in barrel but mostly locked up in tank on skins for 6 months, meandering well into the savoury realm that these wines want to take you. All about the herbal notes and Earl Grey Tea wrapped in delicate tannins. The second iteration of this wine and somewhat fresher this year. Uplifting and more racy in its lightness. Still the same chewy softness that makes it so worth the wait. The slow road never looked so good.
Dilly Dally Chardonnay Peramangk (Adelaide Hills)
Chardonnay proper for its first time to grace the Późno lineup, something we never wanted to unveil ’til it looked like this. Direct pressed to our favourite old French oak barrels. Pineapple notes and finger lime on the nose, giving way to lemon meringue on the palate with a moreish acid line. A mouthwatering depth of flavour that rolls in waves and a clean palate of zesty tension and intense detail. One to savour.
Scenic Route Sav Blanc Peramangk (Adelaide Hills) — Forreston Vineyard
Black cracking clay soils. Macerated for 7 days before being lightly pressed to 50/50 stainless steel and large format old French oak. Lots of pent-up energy in this one, more on the herbaceous side than the tropical, flavours that ramble on a linear path. Chewy and pithy mouthfeel, grapefruit and green mango, orange peel and bitters, kinda Amaro with a Campari-like finish.
